Aligned Counseling & Wellness Services

Life Coaching

What is life coaching?

Coaching consists of services to help you with every day life problems and goal setting.  These problems could consist of improving relationships, working on communication skills, increasing motivation, changing bad habits, setting and achieving new goals, problem solving, increasing confidence, improving social skills, making lifestyle changes, learning new fitness and relaxation skills, dealing with any type of life changes, developing leadership skills, deciphering career moves, or overall maximizing your potential.

We would work to identify the problem, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and then work to identify strategies for overcoming whatever obstacle you are facing.  If you are searching for more physical activity, flexibility, relaxation, and connection to the mind and body, I am a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher and can help you meet these needs.  Coaching services provides you with support, encouragement, and empowerment, to learn to be the best version of you possible.

How is life coaching different from counseling?

There can be similarities between counseling and coaching.  However, counseling focuses on so much more, goes into more depth, and typically lasts longer than coaching sessions.  Counseling will focus on resolving issues related to the past and present, focusing on emotions and the origins of the identified problem, and uses therapeutic approaches to help resolve issues.  Coaching includes present and future problems and concerns, and is typically focused on improvement and working towards achieving an identified goal.

Counseling sessions must be provided by an individual who has completed higher education and holds a license to practice.  A life coach does not require any formal education or licensure.  By choosing Aligned Counseling & Wellness, you will be getting a coach who has completed graduate school with honors and is dually licensed.  The education and experience acquired by staff can better assist you throughout the coaching process.

How long does coaching last and will insurance cover it?

Great questions!  Coaching generally occurs on a short-term basis.  Remember, you are working on goals and improvements, not working on resolving past issues, which can sometimes be a longer process within therapy.  Unlike therapy or other medical and preventative appointments, insurance does not recognize coaching services as being necessary.  Because of this, your insurance will not cover the costs of coaching sessions and all coaching services will require for you to pay out-of-pocket.
